BBT need help!

I have a thermometer to test BBT but haven’t used it. I am planning on starting to but don’t really know what I am doing. Has anyone used one? It is supposed to be like an OPK and tell you when to will ovulate soon or will it narrow it down to when you are actually ovulating?
