Mono vs. Strep

Has anyone ever had mono and strep before? (NOT at the same time).

Last summer I had mono. It came with a super sore throat, swollen tonsils that had white on my tonsils. Dr test came back negative for strep. Dr said it is possible for mono to come back later.

This past week I got a sore throat that seemed exactly the same as when I had mono. Also had swollen tonsils and white on my tonsils. I assumed it was the same so I didn’t go to the doctors and have just been letting it get better on it’s own. It still kinda hurts but is slowly getting better. I was going to go to the doctors tomorrow if it was still really bad, but I probably won’t now because it’s not as bad.

But now I’m worried, what if it actually was strep? I read strep can go away on it’s own but it could cause complications later if you don’t use antibiotics to get rid of it.

Has anyone ever had both? Do the sore throats feel the same?
