What is the difference of being IN love and loving someone?

being in love is like.. finding what feels like home in a person. it's that time when you don't have to force it. You don't feel nervous and giddy with them. you feel comfortable and calm.
loving someone is like just wanting them to be happy no matter what. where you feel like that hug can last for as long as you or they need.
both require trust and patience. both require understanding and a place where there is no judgement.

I feel like loving someone is making an active choice to love them.  When you are in love with someone it's all there with the excitement and giddiness and looking forward to see them but it can disappear really quickly for many different reasons... really loving someone means that you feel all the same things but deeper... with security, faith and trust.  Loving someone means waking up and making the choice to continue loving them... maybe you had a fight or something happened and you just don't like them right now but you're making the choice to stay and keep going because you love them instead of leaving.  I feel like there's too many times people give up after a things that in the grand scheme are small... maybe an argument about dishes or something and suddenly the relationship is over.  I know there are times when things just end... I've been through it enough myself but I feel like being in love with someone gets you started in the relationship whereas loving someone keeps the relationship moving towards the future.  I hope that makes sense...

Past relationships I thought each one was my soul mate. I loved all of my exes a lot but I obviously didn't know what love really was. 
The difference of being IN LOVE: my current boyfriend I am not just in love with, I am obsessed with him, i am dependant on him, I need him in my life.
In a weird way I feel the same bond with him as I do with my parents. Safe, secure, at home. 
It's more than just "love", it is actually chemistry and you can feel it.
