Leaving infants/children in cars

K ✨
So for the first time today I had to stop and get petrol while I had my 10 week old in the car (usually my husband fills up the car). I filled up and took my son out of the car, Paid for the petrol and then buckled him back up again. It got me thinking, how many of you leave your Infants/ children in the car while you get bread, milk, petrol etc. Obviously the laws are different in other countries and states and I'm wondering what your laws are. Here in Australia (victoria) the law states ...
"A person who has the control or charge of a child must not leave the child without making reasonable provision for the child's supervision and care for a time which is unreasonable having regard to all the circumstances of the case".
This is quite broad and it depends how you take the word "reasonable" into context. For example if you left an infant in the shade in the car while you ran in to pay for petrol that is considered reasonable however if it were a really hot day that is considered unreasonable.
Anyway, what are your thoughts on this topic? 🚙 👶
