Tonsil stones?

Has anyone had them? If so what did you do? Should you go to the doctor for them?

Omg I've had them but picked them out myself they smell so so bad

Yup I had them . It was gross . He said the pockets in my tonsils were deep which caused food to get caught which harden over time hence that foul smell. It can make your breath smell really bad . I went to ent dr (ears nose and throat) . The end result was I got them removed . Took care of that issue

I have them all the time! I make it part of my daily routine to pick them out with a q-tip then gargle anti-bacterial mouthwash!! I talked to my doctor and dentist and they both said the only way to get rid of them is to get tonsils removed with can be dangerous for an adult....

I get them occasionally. If I can see them, I pick them out with a toothpick

Tonsil stones occur when you have repeated tonsillitis, strep throat etc. you get scar tissue in your throat. Everything you eat and drink packs into these scars and grow out as bacteria. His cause really bad breath and discomfort. I would consult an ENT and consider getting your tonsils removed. You will never have them again! Good luck to you.

I get them allll the time. Have one right now. Lol
I asked my doc. He said its just where food n stuff gets trapped inside the crevices of ur tonsils, and kinda eat at the tissue. Nothing to be alarmed about. Unless they cause u extreme discomfort then u probably could have ur tonsils removed.

Yes, they are the worst, just use a pick thats long and use a bight flash light to see where they are and should be able to get them out that way.  They stick!! And once u get some out more might be behind them so wait a while and check again, but if u get alot and frequently  u might need to have ur tonsils taken out?

To help keep them from occurring so often, gargle warm water or warm salt water every night, it helps break down and knock out any small food particle that would become a tonsil stone if left alone.
