Why do I feels so guilty?

My ex and I were married for about a year. We're getting a divorce because he became very abusive towards me. Well in about 2 weeks I will be giving birth to our daughter. He has no idea that I've been pregnant and about the baby. I don't want him near her because I fear of what he might do to her if I'm not there but yet I feel this overwhelming guilt that I just can't shake off. When I come close to telling him I just remember all the horrible things he did to me and get scared for my daughter. Am I wrong? Please no judgement...

Do what's best for you and your child. Please don't be around him if he is an abuser you nor your baby needs to be around him.

You are in the right always protect her. I kept my son from his father. He was extremely abusive and I will never regret it. He is 12 yrs old now and has asked about his father for the first time and I was honest with him so my son underrstands.  U just got married 8 mon ago and my husband is his his father. I did the same with my youngest son but his father showed up because he knew about him he has just never been in the picture .. I wish I would have kept it from him now he emotionally hurts my son. I just recently cut off contact with him

If someone was abusive towards me, I would do the same thing you did! He has no right to know you're pregnant until you're emotionally ready to tell him. If he can't handle the first year of marriage with an adult,without being abusive,  he clearly can't handle a child!

Talk to someone who knows the situation.  Get their take on it.  But you are probably making the right choice, at least right now.

Idk about where you live but in Wisconsin they ask in the divorce papers if you are pregnant. I would be honest in legal paperwork and in court just don't go out of your way to tell him

You feel guilty because you want your child to have a father and because you likely still love the idea of the man you married (not actual him, your idealized version of him). Both of those things are normal.

It's probably anxiety. In theory I'm sure you'd want him to be there but seeing as how it's unsafe you're doing what's best. No worries

I don't think you're wrong at all. If he weren't abusive it would be wrong but he is so its not wrong. If he's abusive to you, someone he's married to and supposed to love imagine how he would treat your daughter. You're doing the right thing in my opinion.
