How do you feel about courthouse marriage?

My fiancé and I had talked about getting married in a court house, and then having a little reception with just family and close friends. It's something that we both would be happy with, however I don't think my mother would approve of it. She always told me to NOT get married in a court house, and make the same mistake she did. Part of me doesn't want to disappoint her, but the other part of me doesn't care what she thinks.. my fiancé and I don't have much money nor lots of friends to invite for a large wedding so we both came to agreement that a small wedding will do just fine. What do you guys think about getting married in a courthouse? Also, do you think I'd regret it? Ever since I was younger I'd always dream of having a fairly large wedding, but now that I am an adult and engaged I think a small court house marriage and a small reception would do just fine. Either way I will be happy, and am extremely excited to be marrying the love of my life, I just don't want my mother to be disappointed in me. I'm lost on what to do 🙁
