Will oral thrush go away on its own?

Question

My tongue has a white coating on it that doesn’t go away when I brush it or use my tongue cleaner on it. I googled oral thrush to read the causes and it says prednisone is a cause. I’ve been taking a steroid (I’m don’t taking it now, it was a six day prescription) with the name prednisone in it so I’m pretty convinced I have oral thrush due to the medication. I will call my doctor later and I have an appointment with him in two weeks, I am just wondering if anyone here has had it and how they got it to go away. Thanks in advance.

I’ve read it can get pretty bad if it’s untreated (it’s a yeast infection in your mouth) so you might want to go to urgent care or get an appointment ASAP.

I’m a pharmacy tech and the doctor can prescribe you nystatin suspension to swish around your mouth and there’s also something called gentian violet that is over the counter and can help with thrush as well.

my son had oral thrush and I had it on my nipples when I was breastfeeding almost a year ago. He actually has a yeast infection from sweaty diapers too I treated his thrush with gentine violet but that was because it was so severe he had it for months it went away within a few days. But before I knew how bad it was I was using grapefruit seed extract diluted on his tongue it didn't help much since he was so far gone but this time on his yeast infection in the diaper it worked wonders. What you can do since your an adult is swish with coconut oil and grapefruit seed extract after every meal and cut sugar out of your diet. eat lost of yogurt and take probiotics. this is assuming uour thrush isn't too far gone. I got rid of his diaper yeast infection using a mixture of coconut oil and grapefruit seed extract during every diaper change and letting it dry and I also used tea tree oil and coconut oil mixed together once in the morning and once at night his infection went away within a little over a week. hope th is helps.
