Things got intense on the first date

So I had my first date ever with a guy I had just met a few days ago. He took me out to a rooftop with a beautiful view of the city and brought food for us to eat up there and we talked for hours and got to know each other. Then, we held hands and walked by the water. The overall date was really sweet and romantic and I had a great time. At the end, when he dropped me off outside my apartment I prepared myself for a quick good night kiss. He kissed me and things heated up really quickly. He started ferociously making out with me and I was so taken aback but I just let things happen. It got really hot and heavy and we made out like four different times because every time I thought he was done and was going to leave, he would just dive right back in. I’m really not sure how to feel about this. I didn’t have a bad time but I’m wondering what he’ll expect from me on the second date, if this is how the first date went.
