TTC with Metformin?

Ive been trying to conceive for a while. Recently I was given a perscrption for metformin for a unrelated cause but was told by my doctor its given as a fertility treatment so to be careful. I was just wondering how many people have had success getting pregnant with metformin?

I got pregnant while on metformin. We were trying for almost 2 years when we got out positive. Currently 32 weeks!

I was given metformin because I just found out that I'm a diabetic and metformins main use is to treat diabetes. But my doctor explained to me that I most likely have PCOS and that metformin is also a PCOS and fertility treatment because it regulates the menstrual cycle and forces ovulation to take place, and that a lot of women she has prescribed it to that are convinced will never have children end up getting pregnant within the first 6 months of taking it so that if I didn't want a pregnancy I needed to be extremely careful. I hoping it works for me also. :)

It worked at a weight loss center and we gave Metformin (glucophage) for weight loss because it controls how your body metabolizes sugars. I know it gives people diarrhea quite often. This is the first I have ever heard of people getting pregnant with it! Does anyone know the science behind this?
