birth certificate question...

so the father of my daughter cheated and left me...I've been doing everything on my own and I am currently 25 weeks, he hasn't called to check up on me and her or anything and he told me that he didn't wanna be in the delivery room and didn't even wanna come to the hospital when she is born. So my question is if I don't put him on the birth certificate can I still get him for child support? I was supposed to be putting her on his insurance too but I'm going to apply for chip as soon as she is born...
