Nipple shield?

So I haven’t been pumping correctly on one breast...
Moisture was getting trapped and the skin around my areola peeled off
(Hurts like a motha****)
Question is,
Can I use a nipple shield for now to feed?
So it can heal and I’m not getting blood in her mouth or any infections 🤮
Currently Putting cetaphil healing ointment on it

Yes you can. Lots of people will tell you not to. I used one from the time my son was 2 weeks old until he was 6 weeks. You have to kind of train them back to the breast without the shield afterwards, but it’s so worth it. If you can go braless, do it. If you can go braless AND topless, do that!! If you can’t, wear the shield inside of your bra to prevent rubbing. Coconut oil and breastmilk on the nipple to help it heal up, both of which can be left in place to feed your little one.
