Gaining Muscle Mass?

So I’m really underweight. I always have been, but I’ve been needing and wanting to gain more weight. I always eat a lot, but that never worked... I noticed in the season of doing field hockey, I gained like four pounds and it got me thinking that maybe I could gain muscle weight? Anyway, does anyone have any ideas or tips for how to do this? Like what workouts, how long, and what I could eat for my diet?
