EDIT Teachers!

Edit: the parents know. The principal knows. He has a behavior coach as well. He's been diagnosed with ADHD and has been on meds for a while. He has a behavior plan already. Nothing seems to work. I handlers it just as my mentor teacher does, until he lunged at me. At that point I sent him to the hall to be with my mentor and the principal, who was conducting an observation of my mentor at the time

Tell me your stories of how you handled a difficult situation with a child. I taught my first solo lesson (I'm in training and my mentor had to leave the room) and a first grader was calling another kid names so I gave him a 'strike' (three strikes and they miss 5 mins of recess) after 4 verbal warnings, and when I gave him the strike, he LUNGED at me and screamed in my face! I'm SCARED to teach now. This is a very violent student. He thinks it's funny to hit other students with him metal thermos. I'm terrified after he lunged and screamed at me, and I need some help getting my confidence back. Tell me your stories of challenging behaviors and how you handled it

I try not to let one bad apple ruin the whole barrel, but when he is a legitimate danger to people, including me, it's really scary
