Feeding baby solids? When did you start ?

I’ve ready parents say their doctor tell them to feed their babies before 6 months. So I just want to know when you started! Please do not be rude to other parents in comments. I’ve heard I’m sure like some of you it’s bad for baby before 6 months.

The World Heath Organisation now recommends no solids before 6 months. They make this recommendation based on the latest research that show the infants gut isn't mature enough until 6 months. Solids before this time can increase the risk of gastrointestinal problems and allergies.

We started at 4 months. Our son was showing all signs of readiness and he somehow understood the concept the first time I put he spoon in his mouth and he’s loved eating solids since. My nephew on the other hand they attempted at 4 months but he wanted nothing to do with it until he was about 6/7 months old. So it’s all a matter of what you as the child’s mother believes is best and what works for your child. There absolutely no problem with waiting until 6 months. That being said it’s also okay for mothers to choose to start sooner. My son is 9.5 months old now and eats everything it seems like haha. He will still eat baby food but he also will eat table food.

At 4 months or doctor have us the go ahead because he thought it would help with her acid reflux if she had a spoonful or two of oatmeal in her tummy to help her keep her milk down. It worked for us, we were able to quit zantac at 5 months

My doctor said four months, but we waited closer to 6 or 7 months. We did baby led weaning and she did awesome! I was in no rush to start her on solids since before the year mark it is really only for fun.

5 months. My twins were dropping bottles so my doc wanted us to be prepared to start adding solids slowly to make up those calories.

Generally at 4 months its about introducing the concept not about nutrition. I started my son at 4 months, he wasn't very interested. He only ate baby food a few months before he started refusing after trying solids. He's now a healthy 6 year old. Its all about what works best for baby 💜
