Should you take prenatal vitamins while trying to conceive?(Why or why not?

My doc says that won’t necessarily help you conceive but it’s important to build up your nutrient supply ahead of time so ensure you have what the baby needs when you do conceive. Also, they make some women nauseous at first (me included) so it’s best to get your body used to them before you have morning sickness.

It won’t help you actually conceive but what it does do is help build up your nutrient stores for when you do get pregnant. Plus it gets that lovely folate in your system so when you conceive the embryo and eventually fetus gets what it needs to prevent spinal bifida. By the time we know we are pregnant development had already started

I actually started my journey late January, I went to do a pre conception exam and my obgyn prescribed me prenatals I was surprise but she said it’s actually recommended for a woman to take/be on prenatal vitamins at least 3 months before or while trying to conceive because it reduces the risk of birth defects and supports a healthy a growing baby.
