First prenatal visit?

When was yours?? The doctor I called is making me wait until I'm 7 weeks to do a "phone interview" before we schedule the actual appointment....? Anyone else experience this?? I want to see a doctor NOW. I want to make sure my baby is okay NOW and I want to know how far along I am NOW what the hell??

My doctor doesn’t see anyone until they are 8-12 weeks along . It’s pretty standard for an OB office.

It’s completely normal to not see your doctor right away. My blood work was scheduled for 6w, my nurse appointment was at 8w, and my OB appointment  won’t be until I’m almost 12w. I got my first ultrasound moved up to this Thursday because my husband’s mom is dying and we’re hoping to give her a picture of the baby. Basically it’s because of viability purposes on why you don’t need to sooner. The chances of miscarriage are higher earlier on & they can’t do anything that early. I wouldn’t worry anyway unless you’re spotting or have bad cramps.

My ob will see patients between 6-8 weeks. My first appt is at 7 weeks (from my calculations) they calculated it from my last period. Where I go they have me walk in and take a pregnancy test, after that comes up positive they call you back for blood work then schedule your appt. They told me I would have an ultrasound at this appt and it will be 1-1.5 hours long with everything they go over. That is how it was for my last pregnancy as well. I found out at 3w+1d so it’s feeling torturous waiting. I’m now 5w+2d.

Uhhh this is very common. I wasn’t seen before 8 weeks with either pregnancy. Even if the baby isn’t ok, there’s nothing that can be done this early. By 8 weeks there will be a heartbeat and a fetus to actually see.

So how Am I seeing all these people with 6 week ultrasounds? Just go to a walk in clinic not an ob?

It’s understandable that your nervous, but try to relax a bit. What your doctor is saying is completely standard. My doctor wouldn’t see me until 8 weeks (which was yesterday). I went for my viability scan this morning and measured closer to 7 weeks. I haven’t even had blood work done yet. I’ll go back in 3-4 weeks for that. So basically the first trimester is a ton of waiting and mostly keeping your pregnancy a secret... it’s a struggle sometimes! But hang in there. I’d rather wait and see more in the ultrasounds rather than go too early only to be told to come back in 2 weeks because it’s too early and the didn’t see anything. Best wishes!!!☺️

Yeah that's pretty normal. But if you need to know now, you can always go to Planned Parenthood or call them and they will get you in for an ultrasound, to ease your mind. My OB won't see me until 8 weeks.

My doctor wouldn’t see me until 10 weeks (pregnancy confirmation with a urine test) and I didn’t get an ultrasound until 12 weeks. I’ve heard most won’t see you before 8 weeks.

my doctor didn't schedule till 8-12 weeks. that's how most OB's are our here in CA. So itr normal maybe go to a clinic or something but please don't go to the ER just for an ultrasound.

Can you go to your regular doctor and ask them for an ultrasound? That’s what I did.  (I did have some concerns though so maybe that’s why they let me). I  had one at 6 and a half weeks and one at 8 and a half before going to my OB appointment around 10 weeks. 
I would not get an ultrasound before 6 weeks though as I’ve seen many women on here freaking out because there’s really nothing to see before that time.
