premature baby problems!?

my 1 week old preemie baby always grunts at night, only at night when were all going to bed. and whenever its time to feed him, he never wants to eat, hed spit a lot of it  back out! and he never finishes his bottle at night, no matter how much i wake him up, he goes right back to sleep. do i not feed him yet until he wakes up and cry so that he wouldnt be spitting it back out? and should i lessen the oz at night? from 2oz to 1.75 or 1.5oz? why do preemies grunt?

How early was he? My baby girl was 5 weeks early and the first 2-3 weeks she was very sleeping and would take inconsistent amounts of formula. Sometimes 1oz other times 4, completely random. I was told to keep waking her up every 2-3 hours to feed her. If she was falling asleep before eating 2 ( she was big enough to handle that much ) then make her uncomfortable, undress her , touch her cheek with a cool wet cloth (gently and kindly lol) but to make sure she eats so she doesn’t get dehydrated . You can tell if they are dehydrated if they don’t have enough wet diapers. As far as the spitting , have you tried different bottles , nipples , or a nipple shield? I was using avent bottles but even the slowest flow nipple was too fast, dr browns is much slower and even has a premie one if level 1 is too fast. Good luck!

This would something to ask baby's doctor about as soon as possible, especially since it is a premature baby!

Well my daughter isnt a preemie and is almost 6 weeks old and grunts at night and in her sleep. She does it all the time, but she’s restless all the time. I play white noise for her and she stops
