At Home Insemination

I was told that between day 10 and 16 after the first day of your period is when you should ovulate (told this by a friend) but based on my glow calendar it is saying ovulation falls on day 17. My period doesn’t always start on the same day but is always within 3-4 days of what it was the month before or sometimes on the exact day. Just depends. Should this be a concern of mine? We’re doing this at home with a donor so I could also use some tips on how to properly get it from the donor to me without making and mistakes. We will be using a syringe and sterile cup or condom for 3 days out of my fertile days and on ovulation day we will be using the OTC Stork and Conceive Plus (will also be using that on syringe days) any other tips on how we can be successful at this.
