When to set up an appointment?

Hi!
I’m 4weeks6days pregnant and debating when to call my doctor.  I’m after a miscarriage in October.  I was thinking of waiting another 4 or 5 weeks to make sure there’s a heartbeat.  I’ve read that it’s actually better to see a doctor earlier.  So do you have any advice for me?  Thank you!

Most OBgyns typically schedule first appointment at 8weeks and won't do an ultrasound unless you're unsure of your conception date or measure bigger than expected compared to last menstrual cycle. You can still call and schedule though,  some offices are busy and it's best to schedule before they get booked too far. You typically won't hear heartbeart until 8-10 weeks on a doppler too

I’ve went through a miscarriage and decided it was best if I got care early on. I know there’s nothing that can be done, but it made me feel better. I just had my first appointment with my OB at 5 weeks 4 days. Luckily I found one that took me this early. I think it made me be more positive about this pregnancy seeing that everything was normal. But it just depends if doctors in your area will see you early.

Most wont get you in until 8-9 weeks. They base it off of the LMP. I'm going to a different place a few days earlier so I can hear the heartbeat the day before easter so I can tell my family.
