Waxing before birth?

I’m 35 weeks with my first baby and have been thinking a lot about the post-birth vagina situation lol. Would it be wise to have it waxed down there or just let it be au naturale like it is currently? What would be the easiest to keep clean, etc. after birth? Strange question, I know, but I thought some 2nd time moms might have some insight! Thanks!

have you done it before? I personally, and my ob said she did the same, will just trim it down. this way I'm not dealing with the itchiness of hair growing back, but it's still neat down there so I'm not worried about it becoming a net for the blood

I just leave it. I don't do anything to it normally, and the lochia is not much different from a period. What do you normally do for your period? If there is a need for stitches or something, they will trim what they need. You have enough to worry about after, do not add maintenance or discomfort!

Omg, do not wax for the first time if you haven’t done so before!!! I’m a regular waxer and the first time I did it while pregnant I wanted to cry, it hurts sooooo much worse. I shortened the time in between my visits and the pain is back to a manageable level, but seriously, just don’t if you’re not used to it. The first time you wax, in general, is very painful and I can’t even imagine if it’s your first time AND you’re pregnant. Stick with trimming/shaving.

Believe me, a clean waxed vagina will be the last thing on your mind when you’re in labor. Not to mention you will have to deal with hair regrowth and itching all around any tears you may have.

I personally preferred being trimmed right down (now shaved as grow back is itchy) but felt cleaner not having a ton of hair to deal with the blood and extras. I also had an episiotomy and think having natural hair would have irritated that a ton!

I was a waxer before I was pregnant, however admittedly I did leave it quite a while between my last two waxes... however, I have never felt so much pain in a wax, I had it done about 4 weeks ago and I’m now 37 weeks, was booked in for another before but had to cancel due to it just being too sensitive. My wax lady said it’s the case when your pregnant, everything is much more sensitive. Honestly I had tears rolling now my face, (normally I just crack on with it) just keep that in mind. X

I am 37 weeks and had mine done today. It was so painful in areas. But I don’t regret it now that it’s done. If I can make it through that, childbirth will be a breeze!
