Newborn feeding ?

So my baby is 4 weeks old, I currently wake him up every 3 hours for a bottle, if he doesn't wake up himself, but I've been seeing mothers let their babies go longer during the night? He currently weighs 9.9 pounds and he was a 8.7 pounds born but If I let him he'd easily go 5 hours without a bottle during the night but I'm not sure if I'm supposed to? Do I continue waking him up every 3-4 hours?

Don’t wake him up to eat!

should be absolutely fine to let him sleep if weight gain is fine. baby will wake when hungry. check with your doctor if you're not sure.

When my son was born my midwife told me I didnt have to wake him up in the night to eat. She said Let him sleep, if he’s hungry he will for sure wake up and let you know

My LO is 4 weeks and I let her sleep at night. She’s breastfed and most nights she still wakes every 2-3 hours to nurse. She has gone a stretch of 4-5 hours but not much. She was 8lbs6oz at birth and 10lbs4oz at her 1 month checkup.

No need to wake to feed after baby regains birthweight. Talk to your doctor but that’s the general rule of thumb.
