I NEED ADVICE

So I am going into freshman year and I really want to be a cheer leader. They just don’t want me on the sidelines or for me to be perceived as “ditzy” My parents don’t like this and are encouraging me to do softball. The thing is they planned a trip at the same time as my cheer clinics so my chances of getting in are so bad. But I really want to do it but I feel like my parents won’t support me. Should I do softball or cheer?
