Iud& tampons

So I got my iud placed last week and I started my period just a few days ago. Before I got the iud my tampons won’t leak unless I had it in for too long on my heavier days. But since I had the iud in my tampon leaks and it’s not even full it’s more on the string? Why? Has it happened to any of you all?
