Lupus?

Alaina

I would really like to hear from any of you ladies that have personal experience with lupus. I took my 8 year old daughter to her pediatrician last year for a well child checkup. They did a routine urinalysis at that time and found that she had red blood cells in her urine. Thinking it may have been wrong they repeated it and again found red blood cells. From there her pediatrician ordered some blood work and an ultrasound of her kidneys. The ultrasound didn't show anything abnormal. Her blood work however showed that she had a positive ANA. We were then referred to the rheumatology department at Stanford Children's hospital. We were told that she didn't meet criteria for lupus or any other diagnosis at this time but he did want to periodically follow up on her labs. Her ANA at that time was homogenous 1:320. Well about four months later when we did more blood work it was a mixed homogeneous and speckled pattern 1:1280. What is really puzzling me is even with that high antibody level, she is having absolutely zero physical symptoms. We are now being referred to a nephrologist because she continues to have blood in her urine. I am just so worried about her now and it's so nerve wracking not knowing what is going on with her body.

I'm curious to know at what age you were first diagnosed? What were your initial symptoms? How you are managing etc? If you read my entire post and take the time to reply, thank you 😊 .
