I dated mu ex for 4 years, but he broke up with me 4 months ago. I still want him as my life partner, what can I do to show him we are better together?

You don’t. You move on. Things that are meant to be will happen.

If he doesn't want to it won't work. You can't force him to love, it will just be harder on you. Relationships do have times where you need to work and try harder but you shouldn't have to prove that he should be with you. 
If it's meant to be it will eventually work itself out but don't wait around for it
