Feel ashamed to tell anyone?

This is the saddest thing. My response to this was yes as well. The fact that we feel ashamed to tell people what happened to us, even though we couldn’t control it in any way and did nothing wrong is crazy to me. Our society makes us feel like it’s our fault and the question that often comes after “I’ve been sexually assaulted” is “what did you do to tempt him?” 
I feel ashamed to tell people because I let him into the house. He was my ex boyfriend and I missed him. I initiated kissing and things went further than I wanted. Before anything serious happened I told him no and tried to stop it. All I wanted was to be kissed and held by my ex of three years. He didn’t take no for an answer even though I said it and yelled it over and over. He left me crying and confused and yet I still don’t like to tell people. I didn’t tell anyone for two years because of the shame that I felt. To this day only my current boyfriend and a few other people know. My family and closest friends don’t know.

It’s not that I’m afraid to tell someone, it’s that I’m afraid of what will happen to the person since they’re still my family.

I finally got the courage to tell someone I really care about and he screamed at me. Not angry at me but angry at the guy and that I didn’t tell him and that I shouldn’t have put myself in that position. After I stopped crying he said he was just upset because he loves me so much hw didn’t know how to react.
