New here, preparing for first medicated IUI
Hi everyone,
I'm so grateful I found this group. My husband and I have been TTC for 3 years with 0 BFPs. In January, I went to my gynecologist for my annual exam and decided to start seeking answers. She ordered CBC, checked my thyroid, sent me for ovarian reserve blood work on day three of my cycle. Everything looked good. She ordered a semen analysis for my husband.. it came back with abnormalities, but all she could tell us was his count was good, and we needed to see a fertility specialist for what his SA meant.
3/6 we had our first appt with the RE. They ordered TONS of blood work for me.. checked everything and everything for me came back normal. They said my testosterone was on the higher side of normal but still in the normal range so I've been taking Ovasitol. They say it's not PCOS because my periods are regular, no facial hair, etc. so they aren't sure why my testosterone is high. (I requested that they test it initially because I have HORRIBLE hormonal cystic acne).
RE also ran second semen analysis for hubby. They said theirs is more accurate than the first. Came back that everything looked great except high viscosity was causing the liquefying process to take a while.. his count and motility are great.
With those results, they prescribed Clomid but said they don't want me just trying Clomid alone. They want me to take it and do IUI. It'll be $500/ round of IUI. We are currently saving for a house and trying to process needing science's help to make a baby.. so it'll be a few months before we proceed with IUI.
I haven't had much luck finding information about male factor infertility due to the viscosity. Has anyone else experienced this? Anyone have any encouragement, advice, stories of hope regarding IUI with Clomid?
Thank you to anyone who took the time to read this! Baby dust to all of you! Thank you for welcoming me 💕
