me and my fiance have been together for 5 months a week ago he asked me to marry him and I said yes now we are looking for a place of our own and everyone thinks its a bad idea I personally don't think its wrong but our family's think its ridiculous I need some advice and help on this situation.

I think you should do whatever makes you happy. Everyone (especially family) has this idea on what love is suppose to be or how it's suppose to play out. If you love him & you trust then I say go for it. Also. I don't feel like you truly know someone until you live with them and I'm pretty sure you want to KNOW who he really is before walking down the aisle. Good luck.

I don't think moving in together is a bad idea because you know what... You really DO NOT know someone until you live with them. My boyfriend and I were together a year before moving in together last summer and even before that I had been living at his parents house for 3 months. Living at his parents and living with just him and I in our apartment were completely different. You will learn so much more about each other and ultimately you will be able to determine whether marriage is really what you want. I think that if you explain that to the people that doubt you they will think about it a little differently. Trust me. It's a learning experience living with someone. Things that you don't even think about like cleaning, doing laundry, doing dishes, splitting bills, etc will really show you if this is a person you can spend your life with.

My husband asked me to marry him after dating for 11 months. We moved in shortly after. I think if you both are comfortable with the idea then you should be okay. My husband and I moved in shortly after our engagement and I think it's a great experience before getting married. We learned how to budget together and learned of some not-so great qualities about each other that you only find out if you live with the other person. Of course none of the small pet peeves stopped me from marrying him, but I would say it's a good experience :)

Be cautious. Research shows that couples who live together before marriage usually don't make it, but it doesn't mean it won't work for you. In my opinion, getting engaged after five months is pretty quick. Just take it slow for now and see how things go.
