Labor and delivery day...

My mother asked me and then my husband that we call her when I go into labor. My husband and I had agreed well in advance that we would not call anyone until a few hours after baby was born so that I could rest if needed,breastfeed, etc. He feels he needs to tell her now that she’s asked but I know my mother well and she will not accept sitting in a waiting room alone getting updates. She’ll want to be in the delivery room but she causes me more stress more often than not. I feel I don’t need to explain myself nor do I need to call her. What would you do ?
