After having baby #1, did you wait till you were financially stable again to have #2?

I doubt me and my husband will truly be financially stable. We will hit hard times and have very few times where we have a little extra money. We wanted our first 2 back to back. I got pregnant when my first was 4 months old. That ended in a miscarriage. I’m currently almost 7 weeks along now and my first baby will be 1 tomorrow. We have stuff from our first. If we have a boy (currently have a girl), I have family members with boys so we are good clothes wise. We have furniture and everything for a baby. Our child is always taken care of first. As long as the bills are paid and there’s food in the house and our daughter has diapers and formula (we also have a stock pile of diaper leftover from her), then we’re good. We make it work.

Planned to wait for a couple years. Took the pill and was breastfeeding, tried to be careful to avoid ovulation even on the pill and ended up pregnant, continued to get “periods” and now I’m here due in less than two weeks with my second. (They’ll be 13 months apart at most on my due date) and honestly, I’m not that stressed. 
We have car seats, we have cribs and mobiles and all the tiny baby stuff that the first doesn’t use (plus side is same sex of baby so I have clothing too) and honestly I’m still not sleeping through the night so why not? Lol I wish I had more extra money and didn’t have to worry, but at the same time once you own everything for the first it can be reused.

Nope 🤦🏻‍♀️ hahah baby #2 was a surprise. However, we would have liked to have saved a bit more money but we aren’t suffering. I live in Ontario, Canada so I received maternity pay for 11 months (which is so helpful!) then I went back to work full time to get full pay in and work my 600 hours so I can receive maternity pay again. We are very fortunate and thankful to live in a generous country and I am able to stay home with the kids for 12-18 months paid. On top of my maternity pay I also get child benefit money from the province! 🙏🏼 
I wish the USA had the same!!!! ❤️

We're cutting costs where possible. My first daughter will be 17 months when the second arrives. We will put our first into a big girl bed and re-use her cot, sheets and sleep sacks for the newborn. My daughters wardrobe has always been 50/50 boy and girl clothes, so again easy to reuse for either sex. My daughter is 90% weaned off formula, so that will be no increase or decrease in cost. We will reuse all her bottles. I do plan on creating a stock pile of nappies, I'll probably just pick up a pack with my fortnightly big grocery shops. I'm finding the biggest expense is the tandem pram. We bought a high end pram for my first, I love it so much and just can't go for a cheaper tandem option 😩 Overall, while we are by no means well off (my partners pay check gets us through the week with a just a little aside for some occasional family days out) budgeting for a second seems way less daunting than preparing for the first was! We got this mamas  💪

We've found that you make sacrifices, get creative, and you learn how to make things work. We've never actively tried to concieve, but we know how babies are made and I track my cycles and all of them were greatly desired and not prevented. So they happened when nature decided for us. My first two are two years apart nearly to the very minute and I am due with my third the day after their half birthday. We've had them close but the finances work out in the end! And we got to reuse the expensive ticket items!

That’s sorta our plan. But... mostly because I wontbe able to get pregnant anyways for another 6months to a year anyways. My husband joined Airforce and will be gone for schooling for a while. Once he’s done we’ll be “better financially”. I never tookbirth control and never will, so whenever it happens, we’ll definitely be better off than where we were when we had our son. I’ve also learned a lot in terms of what to actually buy for baby, what I can upcycle and what I can buy used, etc so the next baby will definitely be cheaper than this one was! Lol
