Bilingual babies?

We are a Spanish- English bilingual family and our 20 month old has a pretty good receptive understanding of both so far but favors English over responding in Spanish even if the question or command is in Spanish... Is any other bilingual family going through this?

Bilingual babies usually speak a little later than most. BUT this is actually their brain attempting to retain and use the two separate languages. Give baby time. If you speak Spanish, and they respond in English, they clearly understand. They will get there.

I’ve heard that one parent should speak one language and the other only speak the other language. It helps them to realize the separation.

My 21 month old son definitely knows more English than Spanish, but that's my fault because I speak more English to him out of habit and my husband only speaks English. Sometimes I forget to teach him more spanish words lol. However I noticed he understands and remembers more Spanish words now at this age than he did even 3 months ago...so I think now is the time to throw even more words and phrases at him. I'm trying to only speak Spanish to him but it's hard when he already knows so much! I hope I'm not confusing him 😳😂
