Is it an attention thing?

I love my baby to pieces but he does love attention! He won’t go to sleep unless he’s on my chest or held and I don’t mind doing it but sometimes I do get really tired! I was telling a lady about it and she said babies don’t cry for attention and that it’s probably because he has tummy ache or something but I litterally try everything and he’s perfectly fine when he’s held but as soon as he’s in the Moses basket he’s back to been awake, alert and crying to be held! Is it an attention thing or could it be something else? 🤔

At 5 weeks it is NOT for attention. It’s for comfort. Babies CANNOT self soothe until approx 6 months. Try baby wearing if you need to get stuff done at this point. Good luck!

Please don’t ignore your 5 week old. You are all they know. They grow out of it. My guy was the same way, and at 6 months he’s putting himself to sleep in his crib in his own room every night. Even if they dont need anything, they want you. Your warmth, your scent, your heartbeat. That is all they know.

It's not an  attention thing but so a comfort thing.  He spent 9 months listening to your blood flow and heart beat.  The sound of your voice soothes him,  the rhythm of your breathing puts him at ease. My baby does it and I get so tired of holding him but it's what us mommas have to endure until they're a bit more independant.

People who blame it on attention are just giving an excuse to neglect their baby Without feeling guilty. If you can't handle it, ask your SO, grandma, mom, MIL, SIL... Anyone to help you with your baby.

I voted attention but it’s not attention in a bad way, babies take a lot of love. They require attention. They need the comfort and you’re the momma, your baby feels comfort with you and some babies just require a little more than others. I get that it’s tough but power through it and things will get easier as your baby grows. Try to find things that can also help soothe the baby

Definitely not for attention at that age, but rather a need. Even if it’s not hunger or pain, they don’t know how to soothe at that point. The thing that worked really well for me was a carrier! I loved my moby wrap, because it kept my daughter so close and comfy. It’s exhausting to have a newborn that constantly needs you, but it will pass eventually!

Babies that young aren't able to think like that.. they aren't able to try to manipulate you for attention! It's a need and a comfort thing. It's important for your little one to be close to you 😋

My daughter had to be sleeping on me until around a month and a half, then she started sleeping through the night in her pack n play. They grow out of it and they can’t self soothe that young. You were your baby’s home for 9 months so it IS for comfort. Good luck 💗
