Is recovery from natural birth easier than delivery with epidural?

Trying to figure out if I should tough it out and go natural ...

Yes, absolutely. Your body releases endorphins which dull the pains of labor. Also, euphoria once the baby is born and pains are completely gone. Which are blocked by pain meds & epidurals.
Make sure not to get an episiotomy, which can take long to heal and end up turning into a 4th degree tear.

I liked the comment of “you don’t know what you don’t know”. You can ALWAYS change your mind. Plan on drug free birth and if you can’t hack it you can always get an epidural or pain meds.

For reference I had a preterm birth with my first and it went so fast that drugs weren’t an option and with my second I was in labor (contractions every 2 minutes) for 15 hours.

My advice is this, do what you feel comfortable and confident with. Personally I know a lot of Mom’s who have permanent damage in their backs due to epidurals and so I didn’t feel comfortable with them. I went drug free it wasn’t a picnic but I was able to walk around both during my labor and after.

With my first I wanted to have a natural birth so badly. I don't react well to meds and thought it would be terrible to have an epidural. My husband also had back surgery  8 weeks before I had the baby so I didn't want to have a C-Section because I didn't have any help at home and didn't want to be recovering from major surgery if it was avoidable. Long story short, my dr came in and told me I had to consider it when my body started freaking out after 16 hours or I was going to end up with a C-section. I absolutely hated it and I was right, it wore off 4 times. But honestly, I never would have made it through 4.5 hours of pushing without it. In the end, I was in pain for days from pushing and the epidural didn't make a difference in recovery. I had one with my daughter too, and the recovery was just fine. With both kiddos, I never took more than tylenol afterwards as well.
