Self Love and Cake

Okay so, just tonight, my family had another family over for dinner. As per guest etiquette, they brought a cake for dessert. I took one bite of it and it was instantly the best cake I’ve ever had. It had delicious notes of chocolate and coffee and was all around amazing. As I sat in pure admiration of this cake, the lady who made it was profusely apologizing that she hadn’t prepared it properly. She insisted that we were patronizing her by saying it was good. This really got me thinking. Us girls like to beat ourselves up and we think that others are patronizing us with compliments and they don’t really mean it. But, what if that’s not the case? You could be the most delicious slice of cake ever but if you keep on focusing on how you’re not “quite right” and you don’t let others tell you that you’re wonderful, you’ll never see your true value.
