IUD Insertion, same day you give birth!? Questions..concerns

Question

So I’m scheduled to have the Paragard IUD inserted at the hospital shortly after I give birth. I’m due with my daughter May 3rd. My doctor did inform me that the risk of it coming out jumps to about 25% chance because of a much larger uterus - which didn’t surprise me. 
HERES MY WORRY, 
I’ve seen some women sharing horror stories of the IUD becoming attached to the uterus when inserted so soon after birth. So I’m wondering, any ladies have personal experience with this?? I’d love to hear! 
I do plan on discussing this with my OB next week btw. 🙂

My OB gave me the option of having it inserted right after birth or at my 6 week check-up. She said she prefers not to do it so close to delivery because it is more likely to shift or cause discomfort as the uterus returns to its normal size. I'm going to have it done at my 6 week; not supposed to have sex before then anyway 😆. My OB said she really only does post-delivery insertions if the woman may not be able to get back in for her 6 week appointment for whatever reason.

I had the paragard as well. But it wasn't inserted until my 6 week checkup. I wouldn't risk having it placed right after birth. I personally wouldn't recommend the paragard at all. I bled terribly every month for like 8-9 days!

I’ve had the IUD twice, each time 8 weeks PP. My OB prefers to wait 8 weeks for the uterine lining to thicken, she believes there’s less chance of it being expelled. 🤷‍♀️ I’ve never had issues either time, minimal pain with insertion. The first one was removed to TTC, this time I plan to leave for the full 5 years.

I had my second iud placed 5 years ago. When I had it taken out in November, they couldn’t find it and when they did it was attached to my uterine wall and they ripped it out of me. On top of that, my husband complained often that the strings poked him. I 100% wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. I had a terrible experience with the first one as well.

I had an iud (paragard) before and after I had my daughter.  I highly recommend it! It’s very interesting and alarming though that they would give you one soon after birth I had to wait 8 weeks to get mine, they told me typically it’s 6 weeks but its a full 8 weeks for your cervix and uterus to go back down to its normal size. Definitely mention that to your provider!

My ob said an IUD had to wait at least 6 weeks after birth. I honestly wouldn't risk putting one in right after birth.

I would not recommend it being inserted right after birth. I can see way too much going on with that. I would wait at least 8 weeks when your body is as close to back to normal as possible.

Talk to your OB and tell him/her to wait until your uterus is back down to size. My sister had an IUD attach to her and caused internal bleeding and she eventually had to get a hysterectomy.

From what my Doctor told me, this insertion right after birth is fairly new, they began doing it back in 2016. I like the idea of having it done while still having my epidural in - I hear the pain is quite terrible.
