Did you experience gender disappointment?

Just curious if people here experienced any gender disappointment? For me I'm expecting my second boy. I admit that for about a day I felt a little sad about the fact I'll never have a little girl (we only want 2 kids), but by the next day I was super excited and happy about the fact that it was another little boy. I've heard that gender disappointment can be quite serious though, even leading to depression. How was it for you?

I had it in my heart that it was a girl. I had dreams. I just could feel it. And it was going to be Lyra and it was just destiny because my boyfriend an I have had this weird thing happen and the name Lyra popped up multiple times. Then I found out it was a boy and my boyfriend is a huge trouble maker. I get excited a little bit I’m still really upset it’s not my Lyra

I got the girl I wanted but was so scared I'd cry if they said boy! I know in the end it would've been fine and healthy baby is all that matters but if definitely would've taken me a few days to come to term with it.

had 3 boys we didnt no with first 2 until delivery found out with 3rd boy at 20 weeks. i was sad and upset for a while then i had him and wouldnt change it for the world. im 20 weeks witb our 4th and final child and im sure its a boy but we are team green until baby is here. ive come to terma i might just be meant to be a boy mom and thats ok

Really wanted a girl and found out he's a boy! I'm excited now, but I was a little disappointed at first and still have moments every so often. I cannot wait to hold my baby boy though!! 😍

For a brief moment, maybe at most a day. We were happy to have another girl but also there's a little sadness like needing a moment of closure to realize there will never be a boy in our family since we only want two and we're having two girls. I can't imagine having a boy now! And we don't plan on trying for a boy. This is how our lives are supposed to be and Were Happy with that. I love my daughter so much so having another girl is such a blessing. They're a ton of fun.

I had it with my fourth pregnancy and very minor with this one. With my fourth I had it BAD! It lasted a couple weeks, I cried, I was angry and I said some things that I greatly regret now. I got over it and we’ll before baby was born, I accepted it and was completely in love 😍 This time it was minor. A good cry at first, a couple days of being sad and then a couple days of being angry BECAUSE I was sad about the gender. Now I’m just excited. Gender disappointment is a real thing. I am sorry that some ppl don’t understand it and I’m sorry that it might offend some ppl who have trouble getting or staying pregnant. I honestly don’t think it’s that we get disappointed because our baby has different genitalia than we wanted, but more that we are mourning the child we imagined having.

Both my husband and I were hoping for a boy, it’s a girl. I was disappointed for a few weeks. I couldn’t pull myself out of it but now I’m excited. Spending time with my friend’s kids helped turn things around lol.

I always pictured myself a boy mom ever since I started working in daycare years ago.The boys were always so fun, chill and big mamas boys. When I found out my first was a girl I was a tad dissapointed at first but got over it pretty quickly, but only because I knew we wanted two kids and the odds of having two of the same are slimmer. Low and behold numbber 2 is another girl lolll I still am a little disappointed, mostly because my dream of having a mamas boy is out the window, but I know I will fall in love with this little person once I meet her. and who knows, maybe one of my girls will be super chill and tomboy haha you never know!
