Dilated cervix and swimming?

Question

Had a checkup yesterday and learned baby is head down and engaged and I'm 1cm dilated! Woohoo! I'm 36 weeks and a few days. I know it could still be a while until I actually go into labor but is it ok if I go swimming in a lake this weekend? My doctor didn't say anything yesterday about things I can't do now that I'm dilated but I thought I'd ask around! Thanks!

I wouldn't go if I were you. Just to be on the safe side. Since you're already dilated. The lake is very dirty too.

Maybe in a swimming pool. It's cleaner than a lake. Well atleast it's cleaner than the lake in the town I live in....I wouldn't go swimming in that thing ever. Let alone being pregnant. But you can all your doctor and ask :)

Have you lost your mucus plug? If you have, no swimming. The mucus plug is what protects your baby from foreign germs. I'd call the doctor and run it by him/her either way.

I was allowed to take a warm bath at the hospital after losing my mucus plug and my water breaking while in labor. I don't see why you couldn't swim, I wouldn't swim anywhere far just run it by your doctor.
