anybody else devastated about not getting the birth plan they wanted?

wanted a natural at home birth but due to LO being breech I'm probably going to end up with a c section .. of course I've tried all the spinning baby exercises and have a ECV booked the 5th... Just don't have alot of faith in it working.. all my friends who were pregnant are having the most perfect births while I'm struggling with pre term labor due to a car accident.

We actually didn’t create a true birth plan so that we could avoid disappointment. I’m delivering in a hospital, and I’m going to try to go natural, but I’m not counting out an epidural if I need one. And if i end up needing a cesarean, that’s fine, too. The only things we’re going to ask for are delayed cord clamping and no visitors for the first couple of hours after birth so that we have skin to skin time and bonding time as a family :)

I went through the same thing and in the end I learned the only thing that mattered was that my cub came out safe & healthy!

My birth plans have changed twice. First time because I wanted a home birth but due to difficult emergency access the midwives advised that our local birth centre would be a safer option (we have a pretty horrible staircase leading up to our flat that would cause big problems if I needed to be transferred to hospital in an emergency). Plans for natural midwifery lead birth with access to birth pool are in the process of going out of the window too - I'm currently 7 days over my due date so am booked for an induction this Thursday. Hoping baby makes a move before then but no sign of her shifting yet!

Try not to stress about it to much. I know that it can be disappointing when a plan does go accordingly but in the end all that matters is a healthy baby. I had a breech baby and they can be tricky, you can try everything to get your LO to turn but then they can flip again at the last minute.

Yes. I ended up having a cesarean after planning a natural birth at a birth center. I still cry when I talk about it 2 years later. It made it harder that I hadn’t even considered having a hospital both, let alone a cesarean, so I didn’t have any idea about the options I’d have if it was necessary. You can look into gentle cesarean and ask for skin to skin immediately. You still have options and control if you do need surgery. I really hope that baby flips though!! Best of luck.
