Fertility tests in UK

Hi all. Hubby and I have been ttc for a year now. If AF comes this week, we will be off to the doctors for initial tests. Does anyone know what initial tests involve in the UK? Dr said if we have been ttc for a year with no luck then go back and they'll do initial tests. If all comes back ok we will have to try for another year before starting fertility treatment. If there are issues then we will start whatever fertility treatment needed, as no point trying naturally without help for another year. many thanks for any info you can give :)
