depo??

i am 17 yo & recently got the depo. ive read some very negative reviews and im not sure if i should switch. any stories or thoughts?

I was on it for over 10 years and the worst thing to happen was weight gain. However, that was about 4-5 years into it and after I quit smoking. I had consistent periods 4 months post depo (7 months after my last shot). I specifically stopped depo a year before wanting to try to conceive. Once we started, it took less than a few months to get pregnant. I liked it and would do it again if I were to go back in time.

I was on the depo for 10 years (I was 17 when going on it) before choosing to go off of it to get pregnant. I didn’t have any spotting or any other complications. And it only took me about 5 months to regulate my period when trying to get pregnant. 
But I’ve heard that some women gain weight, issues with spotting, hormonal changes, etc. good luck! I hope it agrees with you!

I had serious issues with it, but I also know every body reacts differently to things. for me I lost a ton of weight and lost my appetite completely. I also had a ton of hip pain (which had something to do with the shot messing with my hip bones), cysts, severe mood swings, depression from hell, etc. i also had issues with getting pregnant after, but there could be other factors to that since they can't say depo actually causes complications like that. All I can suggest is listen to your body. see how you do and make a decision from there.
