Have you ever checked your SO’s texts/messages/etc ?

I see a decent amount of people on here talking about checking their partner’s phone, texts, messages, etc. Honestly ????? I’m not even trying to sound judge-y but I’m having trouble understanding why that’s a thing people do. Even when I dated a guy I had my suspicions about, I didn’t check his phone. He just confirmed my suspicions eventually by making out with some girl who wasn’t me 🤷🏻‍♀️😂 So, if you are someone who checks your partner’s phone, why do you? Is he/she okay with it?

I think it’s such an invasion of privacy and shows a lack of trust. I would hate for my fiancé to constantly be checking my phone, even though I have nothing to hide, so I would never do that to him.

Well one he’s my husband and if he looked at and said no you can’t touch my phone that would create red flags. I don’t ever check his and vise versa but we do get on each others phones to play games, search things, text people, see pictures. Now if I ever needed to check his stuff he wouldn’t hesitate to let me, just like I wouldn’t hesitate to let him. We are one, we are spending the rest of our lives together. I’m not gonna tell him he can’t go through my phone if he feels the need to for whatever reason. I personally believe not letting them creates more of a problem. 🤷🏻‍♀️

We keep our phones with 100% access to each other. This is the man I sleep with every night; he knows every nook and cranny of me so it doesn’t make since that I insist on keeping my phone private. Over the past four years it’s worked for us.

I think if you are with a long term partner, nothing should be hidden from them! If you have nothing to hide, then why not go through each other’s phones? 
I tell my boyfriend everythingggggg (we even talk about our poops 🙈). So I see no reason to hide my phone or to have his phone hidden from me.

I've checked my husband's phone once and I literally don't remember why. I never really felt he would cheat or anything but something did not feel right or maybe I was looking for something. I have made mistakes in past relationships and sometimes I guess I think everyone is like me. I would never cheat on him and am honest if I ever send a message to my ex that I still keep in touch with. I've asked if it bothers him and he said no. if there's a red flag and you think that it would make you feel better, then ask to see your partners phone. sometimes them handing it to you is all you need and that's that. but all the time sounds like trust issues that need to be evaluated.

I’m not suspicious of my husband at all but on occasion I’ll look though his contacts or texts because it has been ingrained in me by my mother that all men are cheaters. Even as I’m doing it I’m not nervous or scared I might find something. I just do it. And it’s not often. It’s usually when he leaves his phone alone with me going into a store or something. Which is probably a sign that he trusts me. In all honesty I’m the only one who has time to cheat because when he’s not at work we are together constantly. We never go anywhere without the other person. I’m the housewife so I could cheat on him if I wanted to . . . But I don’t lol.

My guy admitted to looking through my phone when I was in the shower. It just feels disrespectful. I've been alone with his phone next to me and I just feel whatever is in that phone is none of my business. My phone is like my diary, I don't want him looking through my old photos and weird internet searches.. 🤔

I’ve never gone through his stuff and I never will. If I ever even consider it, that’s proof I don’t trust him. I would leave.

I don't check my SO phone but I trust him whole heartedly.. he respects me and things I don't agree with and he comes to me with every single minute though he has. BUT he has a right to privacy and what he doesn't share with me is not my concern. I don't know why anyone would be with someone they don't trust. also my SO isn't the lying type. he tells me and everyone else straight to the face the truth. now if i had a concern or reason I wanted to go through his phone he'd hand it over. if someone did did it sneakily to me, it'd be reason enough for me to leave them. just ask!
