Family at the wedding?

Question

Would you invite your family members to your wedding if you rarely talk to them or speak to them besides on holidays ? 
AND
Would you invite your family members to the reception when you know they are overly religious and you plan to have alcohol and good music that will not be religious?
***not talking about my immediate family (siblings and their children)

It depends on the size of your wedding. If it’s small, invite the close ones. If it’s large, invite them all

im planning my wedding and am in the same boat...i say invite everyone...and the ones that care will show up....and so will the ones that don't but wanna see a show and party! thats the Truth. you give them the choice...and ask for monitary gifts only$$   good luck

I personally didn’t to the Day time reception (simply because it’s far too expensive to invite guests I rarely speak to when I couldn’t afford many that I’d much rather have there like my friends). I also wanted my wedding more low key - immediate family and my best friend/husband best friend (people we see and speak to daily) 
The rest were invited to the evening reception, but were made aware of the alcohol and music involvement, I left  it up to them if they chose to come or not. Only a small handful did, the rest sent their best regards and have spoken with them since with no issues at all.
It’s your day Hun, invite who you WANT there not who you think should be there.

If they haven’t been a part of our lives as a couple, they’re not getting invited. People who haven’t been there with us throughout our relationship don’t deserve to celebrate it with us. That’s how I see it. 🤷🏻‍♀️as for the other part, if people are going to be party poopers, I’d also keep them off the list.

It depends on your wedding budget. It’s not atypical for there to be people at your wedding that are close to your parents etc. It may not cost for extra people to attend the wedding but for sure be more selective with the reception since most times you pay for by person....at least it’s that way where I live. As far as religion...I’d invite people based off of budget and who I wanted to be there. If they don’t like the music they don’t have to dance and if they don’t drink they can avoid the alcohol. It’s not that hard. But I wouldn’t exclude anyone just because they believe in Christ or whatever their belief system.

Yes but depends on my relationship with them. Like I didn’t invite my parents to my wedding cause we have personal problems and not inviting them to my baby shower. But I invited my cousins to both whom which I don’t talk to much

I invited pretty much everyone in my family even though we aren’t close. Usually the ones who aren’t close won’t come anyways so it’s just nice to extend the invite.

I drink alcohol but his family don’t so i don’t plan on having a big or small wedding because of them and it’s not my dream to have one

Yes & i have that’s exactly what i’m dealing with. They are very strong southern baptists (we all live in California but they are from the south) & my wedding venue will have 4 full bars & a ton of my frat boy friends so drinking will definitely be a thing, ill likely be shotgunning beers with them lol
