I saw a sign on the road the other day against wind turbines. So I thought I’d bring up the topic here.

Some pros:

Clean source of power (less pollution), renewable source (wind is free), cost effective, rapid growth and huge potential, can be built on existing farms

Some cons:

Wind isn’t reliable (you may end up without power), storms can harm them (again you may not have power), they threaten wildlife (birds), noise and visual pollution, they’re expensive initially, a malfunctioning blade can be a safety concern to people, effect on environment (you need a lot of open land for the wind to go through and that might mean cutting down trees in certain areas)

Of course there are more pros and cons than I’ve listed, but that’s just a sample. What do you think about wind turbines?
