Is it weird to wear a short dress to prom?

So I cant afford to buy a prom dress. Im using an old homecoming dress that will work just fine. Going to get it altered cause its too big. But its a tule black with silvet sparkle dress. Goes above the knee though. Its all I have. And I see all the beautiful long dresses on here. And I was told once you dont wear short dresses to prom. Can you? Ill post a photo of it when it fits.

I wore a long one, but many do wear short ones. If you’re concerned ask your school what the policy is (some have a policy on length) or maybe have a look around for second hand dresses? You can get some great deals

I’ve never see someone wear a short one in person unless it was tea length

I wore a knee length dress for senior prom. Our theme was "Viva Las Vegas" and I rocked that little red dress ;)

I have my old blue prom dress went to prom like 4 years ago and it’s just been kept in a box taking up space. I’d be happy to give you it if you can’t afford one of your own. Its a size uk 10 extremely similar to this photo

Oops! I meant “yeah” as in it’s cool to wear whatever you want. I’m tired and brain isn’t working. 
I thought short prom dresses were the cool thing? I think I’m basing that off a Laguna Beach episode I saw years ago. Im old, lol. 
But wear what you want! Just go have fun and make good decisions. 😉
