Drinking age?

How old do you think you should be to drink alcohol?

18. Why? Because if you're old enough to join the army and put your life on the line for our country, then you should be allowed to have a damn drink.

The drinking age should either stay at 21 or go up to 25. You can't be trusted to make smart decisions when you are so young. Drinking and driving is never acceptable, yet plenty of people think "oh I'm just buzzed I'm not drunk!" Buzzed driving is still drinking and driving and never ever okay.

I think it should be raised to 25. 21 year olds are still just as stupid and immature as us 18 year olds. As a friend of my moms says, " 23 going on 16" about her 23 year old daughter. And they also say, you're pretty much going to act 16 til you're 25. Being 21 doesn't make you more responsible..

I think beer at a younger age like 16 is fine but liquor shouldn't be till like 21. When my parents were growing up, they had some 18 beer that they could drink at 18 that had much less alcohol so it took way more to get drunk. Also, I think the U.S. glamorizes alcohol way too much. If it wasn't such a novelty, people wouldn't want it so bad.

This is a tricky one for me. I've known people under 21 who drank and were responsible (had a DD, didn't drink in excess, etc.) and people over 21 that can't control themselves around alcohol. 
I think it's important to educate teens about drinking instead of just trying to shame them away from choosing to drink before 21. When I was accepted into college after high school all the college freshman took a mandatory online lesson on alcohol over the summer. I learned a lot and it helped me make smarter choices.

I think it should be 18. If you can be old enough to be in the armed forces, you should be able to drink.

I think the drinking age should be 25 because a person's brain does not stop fully developing until about that age.  If you allow a person to start drinking at any age below that they are going to be irresponsible while doing so. I am only 23 years old and I had my first drink at 19. I did some pretty stupid things that I regret. When I turned 21 I was like cool I'm old enough to drink and thought I could magically hold my liquor better now that I was 21. Nope I was wrong. I did more stupid things. I no longer drink. I think if people give their brains time to mature and get themselves on the right path they are less likely to participate in these types of activities.

While I think 18 year olds will not always drink responsibly, neither do 21 year olds. I think it's just the novelty of finally being able to drink legally, and it will be that way no matter what the age. If you're considered responsible enough to vote, join the armed forces, and be legally considered an adult and completely responsible for themselves, they should be allowed to drink.
