Should this be an issue to be concerned about?

I have a boyfriend of over 2 years, we handle money differently he does not know how to manage it & it worries me that once we move in together or get married things will go downhill for us financially. Like he has told me that once we live together he’s gonna keep a little bit of money for the week & let me handle the rest. Is this something any guy does & it’s normal? I’m just not sure since I’ve never lived on my own with a boyfriend & etc..

It makes perfect sense to me if you’re better at handling money. My husband and I did this for 16 years. He’d get paid, I’d give him a certain amount to cover his costs for the next two weeks and I’d get the rest of his check to pay whatever needed to be paid/saved/invested.

Everyone is different, I handle the money when it comes to the bills. I pay all of our bills. Then what ever is left over we get stuff we both agree on. If he needs something he checks with me first. If I need something I check with him first. we just do this to make sure we both are good. so if I need gas I tell him, if he needs gas he tells me so we are able to plan our money out better.

Everyone handles their finances in their own ways, you two should have a serious discussion about it before you move in together to get a plan that will work for both of you. The way my boyfriend and I handle ours is that when he gets paid, i make the payments on all of our bills before spending money on things less necessary, then whatever is left over I sort out into necessities and we do as we please with whats left over. Its worked for the entire year we’ve lived together so far.
