What birth control should i use?

I’ve never used birth control before and tomorrow i have a dr appointment. I was thinking of the pill but i dont want extra hormones in my body. Yes i will be talking to my dr to try and find what’s best for me, but i just want to hear your guys’ stories and what bc has worked best for you.

While you can use barrier methods like condoms, diaphragms, and cervical caps, spermicidal foams or sponges, or a copper IUD, the most effective birth control options are hormonal. 
The hormones prevent you from ovulating which prevents you from becoming pregnant. An added bonus is they can regulate your periods and help clear acne-prone skin. Your doctor or sexual health nurse will go over your health history, take your weight and blood pressure, and decide which options are safest for you. 
The most reliable non-hormonal birth control option is the copper IUD.

Not me, but a friend- no inserts. Nexplanon and the like. They’ve been known to move from where they are placed and even grow into your muscle tissue, which requires surgery to undo. 
There are people who swear by this method, but after I watched her go through that, I personally would never choose it.
