Lying about iuis

Maggie

I feel terrible because my husband and I just lied to his sister. Her birthday is next weekend and she wanted us to come visit and go to an amusement park to celebrate with her. However, that is right around the time that I’m expecting to ovulate and do our first iui. So we told her that my husband had to work. I really wanted to go, too. I feel really bad because I think we’re the only ones she invited. We haven’t really told anyone about our infertility because my husband has retrograde ejaculation, and that’s the reason we are having to do iui. It’s a bit immasculating for him to tell other people about it. So we just pretend to everyone that we’re not trying to conceive yet. I’m really hoping iui works in the first few tries because all the lying is exhausting. Also, we don’t want other people to know we are doing iuis because we don’t want family and friends asking us if it worked every month. It’s such an emotional roller coaster, and I don’t want to have to constantly update people on how it’s going. Do you tell other people about your infertility or your iuis?
