A bbt thermometer is more accurate. They're not expensive. I've been using a $10 one for years.

If you don’t use a bbt then the regular thermometer rounds your temperature to the nearest 10th degree which can be a big deal for fertility charting. Also regular thermometers are instant read and gets the approximate body temp usually within 10seconds. The bbt takes about 1-2mins and does not indicate a temperature read until the levels stabilize. If you don’t think it makes a difference, take your temp with both at the same time and log them on two separate charts.
